Switching between the physical and virtual keyboards gracefully on the Astro.

Released on: 2023-10-27

Sometimes the soft-keyboard gets stuck in the wrong state on the Astro slide while changing between landscape and portrait, and vice versa. Fortunately the work-around is really simple.

The work-around?

Tap on the text area to open the soft-keyboard before opening, or closing the Astro.

Now open, or close, the Astro as you originally intended.

Summary

That’s it; It works both ways (opening and closing). And so far, I haven’t seen any cases where it doesn’t work. If you forget, you can simply close and re-open the Astro and get the benefit straight away.

The other way is to simply wait, and it usually sorts itself out within about 15 seconds. While that’s annoying, at least it gets there in the end.
